2025 Decatur Central Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

9:40 AM - Sep 16th

STEVEN FOSTER
Tonight, we honor Steven Foster, a cornerstone of Decatur Central’s football history.
Steven anchored the offensive line in 2006, earning recognition across the state with honors that included AP All-State, IFCA Top 50, All-Conference Indiana, All-Marion County, the Indianapolis Super Team, and IFCA Region 7 All-Star.
He was a ferocious lineman, feared and respected, helping lead the Hawks to their first-ever Sectional Championship. On one of the best 5A teams in Indiana, Steven helped set multiple rushing records in 2005—yards in a season and yards in a game, not just once, but twice.
His excellence carried on beyond high school as he earned a full scholarship to St. Joseph’s University, where he became a three-year starter on the offensive line.
Please join us in celebrating Hall of Fame Inductee, Steven Foster.

TOM WAITES
Our second hall of fame induction of the night is Mr. Tom Waites, one of the most decorated pitchers in Decatur Central history.
Tom once held multiple pitching records for the Hawks and earned the honor of playing in the prestigious North-South All-State Game. His talent carried him to the collegiate level, first at a junior college in Iowa before transferring to Purdue University, where he enjoyed an outstanding career as a pitcher for the Boilermakers.
Tom’s journey didn’t stop there—he went on to play minor league baseball in Lima, Ohio, showcasing his skill at the professional level.
Highly regarded by legendary coach Phil Webster, Tom is remembered as one of the finest pitchers he ever coached—and tonight, we honor him with a place in the Decatur Central Hall of Fame.

CAREY STRIETELMEIER-HORSLEY
Carey Streitlemeir Horsely, one of Decatur Central’s most accomplished distance runners. She is tonight's 3rd Hall of Fame inductee.
Carey earned four varsity letters in both cross country and track, establishing herself as a steady leader and competitor throughout her career. In cross country, she was a four-time All-Marion County honoree from 1991 through 1994, and helped guide the Hawks to multiple sectional and regional titles.
Individually, Carey advanced to the semi-state meets and was a state qualifier in both 1992 and 1993. She also set the school record at the 4000-meter distance, a mark that stood for years, and remarkably still holds the oldest record on the middle school cross country leaderboard today.
But perhaps most importantly, Carey was always the pace-setter and leader for her teams—someone her coaches and teammates could rely on to compete with heart and inspire others to follow her lead.
Please join us in celebrating Carey Streitlemeir Horsely, as she takes her rightful place in the Decatur Central Hall of Fame.

Steve Krizmanich
Our 4th inductee of the class of 2025 is someone who has been “Loyal and True” to Decatur Central for nearly four decades. Steve Krizmanich has poured his heart into Hawk athletics since the 1980s.
From 1984 to 2011, Steve was the top assistant to Hall of Fame baseball coach Phil Webster, helping lead the program to new heights and historic success. He also gave his time to Girls Basketball and Boys Tennis.
And if you’ve attended a Hawk athletic event—home or away—you’ve surely seen him. For as long as anyone can remember, Steve has been the volunteer behind the official basketball scorebook. He’s also been the one to jump in and run the clock at a football game or lend a hand with any task the athletic department needed. He has always been ready and willing to volunteer at a moment's notice across all 3 seasons.
Few people have given more to Decatur Central Athletics over the last 40 years than Steve Krizmanich. His loyalty, service, and dedication to our student-athletes and community truly embody what it means to be a Hawk.
Please join us in celebrating Steve Krizmanich , a deserving inductee into the Decatur Central Athletic Hall of Fame.

Dajana Jovanovic-Lyons
Last, but certainly not least, we honor Dajana Jovanovic-Lyons, one of the most versatile and decorated athletes in Decatur Central history.
Dajana earned an incredible 12 varsity letters, excelling in tennis, basketball and track and field. On the court, she averaged nearly 14 points and eight rebounds per game as a senior, was a three-time all-conference selection, a two-time all- Marion county honoree, and earned IBCA All-State Honorable Mention. She was invited to the Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 60 workout and competed in both the IBCA Top 100 showcase and multiple all-star games.
Beyond basketball, she left her mark in track and field—setting the school’s vertical jump record and helping break the school’s 4x100 relay record which still stands today. A true competitor and leader, Dajana helped her teams to numerous tournament titles and deep postseason runs. After graduating from Decatur Central, Dajana was a multi-year starter and contributor to the top 25 University of Indianapolis Greyhound Women's basketball team, where she helped them earn NCAA Tournament appearances 3 of her 4 seasons.
Please join us in celebrating Dajana Jovanovic-Lyons, a deserving inductee into the Decatur Central Athletic Hall of Fame.
